Sanggar Sarak

Portraits of a tribal folk band named 'Sanggar Sarak' hailing from Village Yenbekaki in Raja Ampat, West Papua.

Taken during a participatory video workshop for Engage Media called 'Papuan Voices' which enables West Papuan activists to learn about film in order to use the medium as a catalyst for the fight for independence.

The portraits of Sanggar Sarak were taken the day before they embarked on their journey throughout Java to perform in cultural festivals.
